For starters, we like books and the independent spirit of booksellers. We all come from different backgrounds--academia, media studies, antique peddling, rare book rooms. We prefer to do things because they're fun and worthwhile and not because someone told us to.
We assembled in 2003 to form the Lorem Ipsum Bookstore. Since that time we've learned a lot about the bookselling business and what it means to be a small retail merchant. In 2005 we formed Lorem Labs as the research and development arm of Lorem Ipsum. In 2006 its first product, Ka-Zam left our laboratory and entered the real-world, where it is used to operate several independent bookstores.
From here, we aim to reach out to independent retailers, first in the book industry, and then hopefully in other similar industries where we can add value with our web tools for efficient operations.
